Intro to SW Florida field trip
Just wanted to take a minute to blog about my excitement for this week's field trip. My boyfriend and I bought kayaks this Spring and ventured out every weekend during the Summer. With school starting back, we haven't had a chance to go, so needless to say I was over myself with joy when I read this week's assignment. Can't wait to break out the kayaks and hit the river!

Ecological Footprint
Thinking about this week's assignment, I don't know that I have time to keep a personal record of my daily consumption of resources, but I was able to find a website that gave me some excellent tips of how to conserve resources. http://www.livestrong.com/article/128375-reduce-ecological-footprint/ gives ideas such as forming a car pool, using less water, making your home energy efficient to reserve . On my agricultural field trip to Keel and Curley Winery, one of the issues they faced were water resource related. I'd like to put into practice several of the ways I have learned this week that can help save these resources.
State of the World
Before beginning this assignment I knew very little about world food production. I grew up on a farm where we mainly grew pototoes, so I had a small idea behind the basic principle. After reading our text, State of the World, I saw just how massive the food production industrusy is and have a better understanding of how they operate. The manufactering of food isn't a simple process. I was also able to locate a website that relates to our book. The Nourishing the Planet (www.NourishingthePlanet.org) project assesses the state of agricultural innovations—from cropping methods to irrigation technology to agricultural policy—with an emphasis on sustainability, diversity, and ecosystem health, as well as productivity.

Getting Started
I am not sure what I am expecting from this class just yet. I enjoyed the first assignment so far. After reading Richard Louv's biography, I realized that he has been a Clemson visiting professor for quite so time. I attended their rival school at the Univesity of South Carolina. I sent Louv a friend request on Facebook, which he accepted and read several of his own blogs at http://richardlouv.com/blog/. I'd say that week 1 of this class has been successful. At least I hope so for my grades sake. I had a lot of fun writng our first paper. Reflecting back on my experiences in school and growing up brought back alot of memories. Looking forward to the next paper.
